I visit Brooklyn Bridge Park once a year.  Construction was just beginning in some of these photos and it has quickly become one of my favourite places to “escape” from the crowded streets of Manhattan.

Getting There

There are so many options for you to make your way to Brooklyn Bridge Park.

  1. Subway:  There are 10 lines that will get you to the edge of Brooklyn, then it’s a matter of walking to the park.  In order to not get lost, use an app like CityMaps2Go (previous entry) to track where you are.
  2. Water Taxi.  This is perhaps the easiest way to get directly to the park.  Depending on where you are in the city, you can make your way down to one of the piers to catch a water taxi/ferry that will take you across the Hudson River.  South Street Seaport (Pier 16) provides the shortest distance to this stop (Pier 1 – DUMBO) in Brooklyn.  More info found here.
  3. Bus.  Four bus routes within Brooklyn and from other boroughs (with connections) will get you here.
  4. Walking.  My choice of accessing the park, and offers the best options to view the cityscape of lower Manhattan.  If you’re choosing this, know that it is quite a walk – consider it your workout for the day and make it a jog!  You can begin at the Manhattan end of Brooklyn Bridge Park, or you can begin from Brooklyn Heights.

Fulton Ferry Landing

My photo stop whenever I visit, and also the landing for water taxis.  South Street Seaport with its docks and boats can be seen across the Hudson in the photo.  The “Phoenix Marine” area on the Brooklyn side is close to the dock for the water taxis.  The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is also located at this location!  Yum!

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Keep up to date by checking the Official BBP Site.  Brooklyn Bridge Park offers movie nights which, in my opinion, is a great first date location.  Pardon me while I swoon a little!  Also, the different areas (Pier 3 is still under construction) offers a lot of courts for various sports, restaurants, and pop-up pools!

Also scattered around the park are various art installations that change, and charging stations for those of us who need a boost on our phones.  One main attraction, for adults and kids alike, is Jane’s Carousel. For a small fee, you can enjoy a classic carousel ride while enjoying the sights of Brooklyn and Manhattan.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Brooklyn Bridge Park!

xoxo,

Judianne
