Hotel Life

Meet Clear Lake.

With summer around the corner, I’m feeling a little nostalgic for outdoor living.  I decided to backtrack through my photos of camping trips, and found these gems from 2010.

My mother woke me up one morning for an impromptu day trip to Riding Mountain National Park, just for the sake of visiting.  About 2.5 to 3 hours away from the city of Winnipeg, Riding Mountain makes for a great destination for overnight campers, both beginners and seasoned ones.  My family has always stayed at the Wasagaming camp grounds in tents (no electricity or water), but that’s what we enjoy most.

Meet Clear Lake. Meet Clear Lake.

Found in the middle of Riding Mountain is Clear Lake, which offers aquatic rentals of paddle boats, as well as a marina for boat owners.  The lake is a great way to cool off on a hot summer’s day (and Manitoba has plenty of those), and it is lined by the town of Wasagaming, complete with boutiques, a mini mart, and restaurants.  There are also accommodations and cabins in this area for those not as excited for sleeping in tents.  Riding Mountain also features yurts and “oTENTik” experiences for those not quite ready for tenting, but would like to be disconnected from usual city amenities for their stay.

Whether you plan to stay overnight, or for your entire summer, make sure to book ahead, as camping spots and lodging fill up fast.  Pack your swimsuit, your shades, and don’t forget your sunscreen!

xoxo,

Judianne
