Oh my heavens.

I have been on observation decks internationally and while the Calgary Tower isn’t the highest, it still made me a bit nervous to step on the glass.  I rationalized this as it being a “believable” distance from the ground.  You can still make out what the objects are, unlike in the CN Tower, Empire State Building or on those Bangkok rooftops.

The Calgary Tower was located literally steps away from of our hotel so we decided to spend a rainy day in the observation deck.  The tower is under construction, but the facilities remain open including the restaurant at the base of the tower (Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse) and the restaurant right above the observation deck (Sky 360).  The elevators had LCD panels that mimic what you’d see outside as you rise up to the observation level.

Butterflies aside, I had an amazing time enjoying the views of Calgary from up here.  I evidently even made some very Canadian friends.  Hope you also get to enjoy this city as you “rise above it all.”  😉
