I don’t really have a lot of words to describe Lake Louise. Stunning? Gorgeous? Breathtaking? They don’t seem to do it justice.
The hiking capital of the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise almost demands that you keep active with its inviting trails – some just to get from the parking lots (especially the overflow lot) to the destination itself. A quick 50 minute drive from Banff, and you are greeted with winding trails to find parking. We had a challenging time finding parking this day as there was also a tour happening for the folks who had flown in internationally to volunteer for/organize TED Talk, specifically TEDSummit 2016 which has happening in Banff that weekend. We had a great time chatting with some of the delegates – a true group of powerhouses, also taking in the splendor of Lake Louise and all its beauty. It was a great group to witness, appreciate, and connect with – and temporarily blend into.
Lake Louise, just like Banff, has its own Fairmont Château Lake Louise, similar to the infamous castle structure in Banff, but with a different style. This luxury hotel is the ultimate place to take in the views of the turquoise waters from your room’s balcony or veranda. It’s also perfect for heading down to relax by the docks in the sheer serenity of your surroundings. This is a place I could really stay by for longer than a day trip.
This wrapped up our day trip to Banff, and we had an incredible time, even with the crowd that was there. Wonder which natural attraction we’ll visit next? Where would you recommend? Connect with me to let me know your suggestions!
