Note: This is my very first post in my Meet Winnipeg category! I travel often, but I also want to highlight the gems of this city, and believe me, there are plenty! Enjoy this entry!
This was my first stay at an ALT Hotel, a sister brand of my favourite Le Germain Hotel luxury chain. With a slogan of affordable luxury, the ALT provides outstanding value for its price tag.
Lobby
Each ALT Hotel has a feature wall that includes monitor for Instagram posts with hashtag #altexpo. Brilliant! This not only markets ALT, but guests feel like they’re a part of the hotel. The Winnipeg feature wall is unique because the images are specifically Winnipeg. Other ALT hotels feature nation-wide images.
The lobby is colourful with unique sitting options and doubles as the breakfast area for ALT’s complimentary breakfast. The eco-friendly building offers a gym space and meeting/function areas, each named after a colour.
ALTcetera
Also in the lobby, the ALTcetera counter provides grab-and-go snacks and beverages. The variety of options include health-conscious, gluten-free, and vegetarian snacks. There is also an area to purchase pastries and baked goods from local businesses in Winnipeg!
Suites
I am so smitten with this room. You can book directly or through a 3rd party site such as Booking.com. The ALT makes use of their space with minimalist, modern design. The bathroom is roomy, and this particular suite (on a higher floor) had a shower with a see-through panel into the room. The other side of the see-through panel had the refreshment area equipped with exposed lighting and a keurig machine.

Comfortable beds along with our view of downtown Winnipeg and the MTS Centre made for a wonderful stay. The Merchant Kitchen is directly connected to the hotel on the ground floor, and features elevated street food inspired by Asian and South American fusion cuisine. It is quickly becoming a favourite downtown spot for Winnipeggers.
Before I end this entry, let me leave you with some wall art that was in the room. These are found throughout the suites and feature different artists and various images. For a visual person, this hotel is heaven! Have you stayed at an ALT Hotel? What was your highlight of your stay?
xoxo,
